Additions to the agenda: none
New Business:
- Cary Belyea, SwimSafe Pool Management, updated Commission on the 2012 pool season
-Great season so far with record heat and little rain, and the pool has been busy. Two in-water rescues have occurred, one child hit his head, but everyone is fine.
-90% of the staff from last year returned this year. Two Evendale guards, Megan Schababerle and Amanda Eagan, were named SwimSafe employees of the month. Megan and Amanda also organized the swim lessons this year.
-121 kids participated in this year’s swim lesson program; and the reviews have been positive.
-The repaired leak is saving money with reduced water loss, chlorine and chemical usage.
-ADA legislation has been moved back to March 2013 because of various pending lawsuits and legislative reviews. Currently, portable lifts will be allowed so (at this time) we will not have to install permanent lifts at each spa, the main pool, and at the wading pool.
- Fiscal Year 2013 Budget Sub-committee (David, Wayne, Gus, and Stiney) will meet on August 23, 8am, at the Recreation Center
c. Fiscal Year 2013 Fee Sub-committee (David, Wayne, Gus, and Stiney) will meet on August 23, 8am, at the Recreation Center.
Old Business:
- Lifestyle Essentials (LE) report, as noted in the packet
- David will investigate the request for water aerobic floatation belts comment card.
- Evendale Bike Master Plan update
-Next meeting of CACC is July 22nd in Blue Ash from 3:00-5:00pm.
-A meeting will be held July 30th, with General Electric to discuss their plans for bike paths. Our prospective plan is to connect to their proposed outer loop.
-David‘s intent is to add funds to the 2013 budget for the bike project.
-Concerns have been expressed that this bike trail will be a “trail to nowhere”, when in actuality the path, as currently planned, will be two miles long just within Evendale with options to add Sharonville and Reading trails. If we can tie into the GE loop, our path, just within Evendale could be ten miles long.
- Gorman Heritage Farm hired a new director recently; and David will invite Christine Schuermann to our next meeting to discuss our collaborations with the Gorman Farm, the farm’s dog allowance policies, and the walk/bike trails project.

Director’s Report:
- Our swim team is the 2012 NSSL league champions. The awards night program will take place tonight.
- Our swimmers broke five records this year; four of these were at Championships.
- Parents received word late Monday about which children would be swimming relays Tuesday which made it difficult for some parents to make arrangement to be at the meet on Tuesday.
- Great Job to St. Bernard for running championships this year. The site provided plenty of shade for spectators and participants. Additionally, Congratulations to St. Bernard for winning the “small division” of Championships
- Great job to our coaches for a season well done. At this time, Debra Walker plans to return for the 2013 season.
- The new team website worked very well. The site encouraged parents to become involved in swim team activities.
- Tennis is going well. Pamela commented about the addition of the various levels of tennis balls; these colored-coded balls make the program fun and encourage all levels of play.
Phi Lambda Pi Report:
- Last night, there were about 20 members at the Recreation Center. The group went to Don’s Creamy Whip in Reading.
- Concession Stand at the pool is doing well.
- July 4th 10K did not have as many participants because of the weather (very hot and humid). However, the Kids’ Carnival and evening festivities were well attended. Every game booth seemed constantly busy.
- The Myrtle Beach trip, July 27 -31, has ten kids going. We will take two vans down and stay in a hotel.
Open Discussion:
- The Aqua-gator in the indoor spa has a new motor but the machine is not operating properly. (Note: the Aqua-gator is now working properly.) The service company was recently here and complimented us on how well the machine has been maintained over the years.
Motion to adjourn made by Wayne Mosley at 8:24am; seconded by Katie Touvelle. Motion approved.
